Jordan take part in human rights council meetings in Geneva

Justice Minister Bassam Talhoni will take part in meetings the 31st ordinary Session of the Human Rights Council which starts in Geneva tomorrow.

The session will begin with a three-day meeting for senior officials to discuss development agenda until 2030 and issues pertaining to human rights.

In a press statement on Monday, the minister highlighted the importance of holding this session that will focus on children’s rights and the fight against terrorism. Other sessions will focus on human rights status in a number of countries including Syria, Iraq, Libya, the occupied Palestinian lands and North Korea.

The Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe and for addressing situations of human rights violations and make recommendations on them. It has the ability to discuss all thematic human rights issues and situations that require its attention throughout the year.
