Jordan third among Arabs in countering corruption

The President of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Samih Bino, on Wednesday said that Jordan came third among Arab countries and was ranked 55 worldwide in the fight against corruption, according to Transparency International's (TI's) Corruption Perception Index 2014.
During a meeting with officials of internal oversight units in the public sector, Bino said that Jordan's remarkable progress in fighting corruption indicates the seriousness of the Kingdom's public and private sector institutions, including ACC and regulatory authorities, praising the role of the media in Jordan to deal with corruption cases consciously and positively.
Last year, Jordan came third among Arab countries in anti-corruption. preceded by the UAE and Qatar, while at the international level, it came in 66 among 175 countries.
The ACC head added that the Corruption Perception Index 2014 will help Jordan bring in more foreign investment opportunities and grants as well as strengthen its position among nations and stimulate public and private institutions to continue checking corruption and reduce its threat to the Jordanian society and development, thus enhancing the confidence of citizens in the public institutions.
