Jordanian, Egyptian leaders underline need of highlighting Islam's moderate image

Jordanian King Abdullah II and Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi were on the same wave length on the need of highlighting "genuine and moderate" image of Islam, which rejects violence and extremism, as well as accepting others, presidential spokesman said.
Alaa Yusuf, in a statement after King Abdullah II's brief visit to Cairo Sunday, where he met with Al-Sisi at the airport, said the two leaders called on importance of doubling of efforts by Arab and Islamic countries to highlight the moderate image of Islam.
Yusuf said the two leaders underlined pivotal role of Al-Azhar institute in the contribution to "correction of misunderstanding about Islam, as well as confronting extremist and destructive ideas." King Abdullah II and Al-Sisi agreed to provide all assistance to Al-Azhar to carry out its crucial role properly, noted Yusuf.
Yusuf meanwhile said the two Arab leaders underscored importance of preserving unity and territorial integrity of Syria, as well as preventing spread of violence and terrorism to neighboring countries.
They discussed the Palestinian cause following the Arab foreign ministers' meeting that was held in the Arab League yesterday.
King Abdullah II and Al-Sisi began their summit talks with a face-to-face meeting and then delegates from the two sides joined them.
The Jordanian Monarch left Cairo immediately following the summit talks.
