
Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh called on the Arab League to establish dialogue with Iran similar to other countries, Fars news agency reported.
"The Arab League should organize Arab-Iranian dialogue like its dialogue with other countries," Judeh said in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran on Saturday.
Judeh described as important consultations with senior Iranian officials under the present conditions, and said, "Iran is an important country in the region and we believe that we can exchange views with Iranian officials on different issues."
The Jordanian foreign minister pointed to terrorism and extremism as important problems of the region, and said, "This problem is not just confined and related to Shiites or Sunnis."
He referred to regional issues as the core of his country's foreign policy principles, and said, "The region has been affected by instability, violence and extremism for several years and we believe that political stability and security should be restored to the region sooner and for the same reason we need unity and solidarity among all Muslim nations as well as talks and consultations with Iranian brothers on vital regional issues is important to us."
The Jordanian foreign minister reiterated Iran's important regional role.
The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, underlined the need for collective efforts by the regional countries to cooperate on extremism and terrorism, and said, "Terrorist and savage acts such as the killing of the Jordanian pilot are not acceptable and they taint the image of Islam …"
Zarif pointed to the crimes committed by the ISIL terrorists, and said, "They (the terrorists) try to create differences among Muslims."
