Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh stressed on the need for concerted international efforts to support the unity, sovereignty and political independence of Libya.
In remarks during his participation in a ministerial meeting on the sidelines of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the minister urged the international community to support legitimate constitutional institutions in Libya represented in the Parliament and the government to address security and political challenges that obstruct the establishment of a modern state.
Judeh also called on all Libyan parties to place national interests above all other consideration, reject violence and support the political process in the country, pointing in this regard to the efforts of the special envoy of the UN secretary general in achieving an immediate ceasefire in Libya.
"All Libyan parties should fully implement Security Council resolution 2174 which was supported by Jordan and which clearly stated that the future of Libya should be based on legitimacy, democracy and the respect of international law," he added.
The minister said that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II has, since the start of the crisis in Libya, provided all support and humanitarian assistance to the Libyan people and will continue to do.
