Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh reiterated his country's support for the measures taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to maintain its security and stability and to face terrorism and extremism, denouncing any external interference in its internal affairs.
"The visit is within the ongoing consultation between the two brotherly countries' leaderships," Judah said in a statement following his meeting today with Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir. He reiterated Jordan's historic position in support of "the Saudi brothers in view of the developments the region had witnessed recently."
Judeh noted that the ransacking and burning of the Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran were in violation of international norms and treaties, namely the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
He said Jordan rejected attempts to stoke sectarian tensions by Iran, calling for "putting the challenges and crises the region is facing within the right political context, away from sectarianism".
