The lower House Speaker, Atef Tarawneh, reviewed the Jordanian political approach in dealing with developments such as the Palestinian issue, fighting terrorism, Syrian refugees and the Iraqi crisis.
Tarawneh’s remarks were made during a meeting with a delegation from the British House of Commons on Monday that comprised members of The Council for Arab-British Understanding (CAABU), and the All Party-Parliamentary Jordan group led by MP Crispin Blunt.
Tarawneh praised the support provided by the United Kingdom for the Syrian refugees and the British Parliament's stance towards the Palestinian cause and its support for establishing a Palestinian state.
He reviewed the comprehensive reforms implemented by Jordan under the guidance and follow-up by His Majesty King Abdullah II, in spite of the conditions in the region during the years of the Arab Spring, where Jordan was the central figure in the regional crises and its repercussions. Thanks to the wisdom of His Majesty and the awareness of the Jordanian people, the reforms took place without any bloodshed.
The delegation praised the reforms implemented by Jordan, stressing that their group will continue to support Jordan as it plays a role in the region. He assured deeper bilateral relations and the need to develop and strengthen them in all areas which serve the national interests of both countries.
