
His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, on Tuesday visited the Special Police headquarters of the Gendarmerie Department.
He discussed with the Department's Director, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Sweilmeen, a number of issues of concern to the Gendarmerie forces. HRH Prince Rashed Bin al Hassan, the Special Police Commander, was also present.
The King was briefed by the Special Police Commander about the tasks and duties undertaken by the security force.
The King issued directives to provide maximum security and safety to the citizens and foreign residents in the Kingdom, adopt a humanitarian approach and maintain high standards of justice and equality besides ensuring respect for human rights. He said he was proud of the Gendarmerie forces' efforts to preserve the Kingdom's resources and national achievements.
Sweilmeen said the department is seeking to develop and modernize in order to enhance its ability to perform its duties in a competent manner in cooperation with other security agencies.
