Prime Minster Abdullah Ensour on Monday reiterated Jordan's stance towards Iraq and its commitment towards Iraq's unity, noting that his recent visit to Baghdad was in keeping with His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives to convey the message of support to the neighboring country which is facing terrorist challenges.
Ensour said, ''I have returned from Iraq recently and am convinced that Baghdad is strong and united in its fight against an enemy which is harming Islam.''
Ensour assured, ''We are with Iraq, regardless of the political regime in power,'' and assured that Jordan did not and will not intervene in Iraq's affairs or in the affairs of any other country in any way.
The premier's remarks came as he met with Iraq's Defense Minister, Khalid Obaidi, who is recently visiting the Kingdom.
Obaidi highlighted Jordan's stances supporting his country and added, ''The government and the people of Iraq have faith that Jordan has never intervened in Iraq's internal affairs throughout history.''
Obaidi assured that his country is looking forward to building a professional army, expressing his desire to promote cooperation and exchange expertise with Jordan in training Iraqi forces.
