Jordan's Muslims Brotherhood on Friday called for the release of its deputy head who was detained Thursday.
In a statement on Friday, the group said the security forces arrested its deputy head Zaki Bani Rsheid on Thursday midnight.
The police arrested him after he published an article that the authorities considered harmful to Jordan's relationship with the United Arab Emirates.
In his article, Bani Rsheid criticized the UAE for designating the Islamist organization as a terrorist group.
"We are surprised by the arrest of Bani Rsheid and call for his release," said the statement.
Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood is the country's biggest political opposition party. Bani Rsheid is the third senior Brotherhood figure to be arrested in recent months in Jordan.
