In implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has dispatched two relief planes, the 27th and 28th so far, to the Yemeni island of Socotra.
An official at the organisation said that one of the planes carried electric generators to supply Socotra International Airport and the community college there with electricity, as well as 40 tonnes of food. The second plane carried around 50 tonnes of various food items to Yemeni people, who are suffering from food shortage due to the circumstances in the country.
The official added that the aid is part of continuous sea and air bridge relief efforts to help the brotherly Yemeni people, as well as the UAE leadership's keenness to ease their suffering through the provision of basic needs such as food, medicine, and electricity.
