Kurdish forces begin reconstruction of Kobani

The Kurdish forces in Syria started reconstruction of the border town of Kobani as the displaced residents are returning to their homes.
A Kurdish official said on Sunday that people cannot live in 90 percent of Kobani town because it needs reconstruction.
The people of Kobani who fled the fighting have started to return to their homes after four months of fighting that devastated the town and its infrastructure.
The loss of the border town is viewed as a major blow to the Takfiri terrorists, which started advancing on the town on September 16, 2014, in order to strengthen control over a long stretch of the Syrian-Turkish border.
The battle for Kobani has claimed the lives of more than 1,600 people, most of them from ISIL.
Some 200,000 people escaped to Turkey from Kobani and the adjacent villages due to the clashes over the past few months and now most of them cannot return because of the scope of destruction.
At least 3,710 ISIL terrorists were killed in the Syrian border town of Kobani after more than four months of fighting.
Top Syrian Kurdish military commanders announced in a new report on Saturday that the ISIL terrorists suffered major losses during the four-month-long fighting, adding that the Kurdish offensives on the Takfiri group left more than 3,710 terrorists dead and 102 of their vehicles destroyed.
The report added that also 16 tanks belonging to the group were targeted during the clashes.

Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian warplanes struck the terrorists' strongholds on the barrens of Qalamoun in Damascus countryside and those of Arsal at the Lebanese-Syrian borders.
The Syrian Army continued carrying out counterterrorism operations across the country, resulting in the death of scores of terrorists and the destruction of several of their vehicles.
Meantime, a military source said that anti-government militants sustained heavy casualties in fierce clashes with the Syrian army in nearby areas of Idlib and Homs provinces.
A senior army official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the army troops made gains in their fight against the rebels in the areas of Tal Salmo and Abu al-Duhour in Idlib, leaving a large number of them dead and injured.
The source added that the insurgents also sustained a heavy toll in Homs province, as the army made advances in the areas of Oum al-Rish, al-Mhsairfeh, Salam Sharqi, and Mas’ada in Homs’ Eastern countryside.
Elsewhere, the Syrian army stormed the hideouts of the armed groups in the outskirts of Daraa province, leaving a large number of Takfiri militants dead and injured.
A military source said that the army units made gains in their fight against the rebels in the areas of al-Ghariyat, al-Hirak Bassel and Marwan al-Zoubi in Daraa, killing and injuring scores of them.
