The State of Kuwait has always been a beacon of humanitarian efforts, providing support and aid to the needy around the globe, said Lebanese humanitarian officials here Wednesday.
Speaking to KUNA, head of Al-Rahma (Mercy) Society Ashraf Bakri said that choosing Kuwait as a global humanitarian center and His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as a "humanitarian leader" was an honor that is reflective of Kuwait's status amongst nations.
Echoing similar statements, head of the relief and humanitarian aid at the fatwa house in Lebanon Riyadh Eitani said that Kuwait is experienced in the field of humanitarian aid, noting that the UN honoring of Kuwait and its leader was the highest recognition a country could get within the humanitarian domain.
Kuwait is considered one of the main contributors to relief aid efforts in Lebanon especially when it comes to the Syrian refugees who are fleeing an ongoing war in their country since 2011. (end) mha.gta
