Kuwait key donor to Syrian refugees in Lebanon

Kuwait is considered one of the biggest donor country in helping the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, with USD 30 million given out this year to provide for food and shelter, a UNHCR official said Tuesday.
United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) deputy representative in Beirut Lynne Miller told KUNA, after a meeting with a visiting delegation from the GCC Red Crescent Societies, that the number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon has exceeded the one million threshold since the crisis broke out in 2011.
She added the UNHRC is trying to lower this number and to provide shelter, healthcare and nutrition for them.
Miller expressed her appreciation to efforts made by Kuwaiti Health Ministry and Kuwait Red Crescent Society in helping the UN organization to achieve its humanitarian goals, especially in regards to paying expensive treatment for two Syrian children.
The GCC Red Crescent Societies' delegation is visiting Lebanon to get a first-hand knowledge on relief works and to discuss unifying efforts on this humanitarian front.
