
Kuwait is holding a special session to discuss the status of expatriate workers and their employment, according to KUNA, the official news agency.
The session is being held on February 2, revealed National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim to journalists on Thursday.
Ghanim said he had received the proposal to hold the special session from 10 members of parliament.
Deportation for teachers giving private lessons?
Meanwhile, there has been a controversy in Kuwait over reports that the country’s Ministry of Education is recommending deportation of expatriate teachers who give private lessons, news site Sabr reported.
Dr. Mohammed Faris , Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education said that the person who “proposed the deportation of expatriate teacher” is a member of the Kuwaiti National Assembly. However, it has “not been authorized.”
“I would like to clarify that it only refers to teachers who give private lessons without the consent or authorization from the ministry,” he added.
The proposed law to deport teachers who give private lessons was suggested by members of parliament Dr. Walid Tabtabai.
