Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry Khaled Al-Jarallah said here on Wednesday Kuwait is keen to fight terrorism and to comply with relevant UNSC resolutions.
Addressing the first ministerial-level meeting of the anti-ISIL coalition in Brussels, Al-Jarallah said: "From the very beginning, the State of Kuwait was well aware of the looming world danger so it joined international efforts to fight terrorism through effective involvement in the international coalition against the ISIL." "Kuwait also applied relevant international legitimacy resolutions, mainly Resolution No 106/2013 regarding the fight against money laundering and terrorism," he said.
In this regard, Kuwait set up a financial investigation unit in order to monitor suspicious accounts and report to the Public Prosecution as well as to create an ad hoc committee to carry out relevant international resolutions, Al-Jarallah elaborated.
"Today's meeting, which comes following a couple of gatherings held in Kuwait and Bahrain to discuss anti-ISIL efforts, comes under critical international circumstances and regional conflicts that threaten world security and stability," he noted.
"Such conflicts have created hotbeds for terrorist organizations and launching pads for posing a threat to world security and stability, and that's why Kuwait has launched warnings on several occasions," the Kuwaiti official added.
To fight such terrorist organizations, Al-Jarallah suggested an all-out strategy involving families, schools, universities and places of worship as well as mass media, while stressing that such groups have nothing to do with the tolerant religion of Islam.
Furthermore, more attention should be given to the process of addressing flashpoints and putting an end to ongoing conflicts in the region, he emphasized.
The Kuwaiti official concluded by voicing satisfaction with the positive outcomes of anti-ISIL coalition efforts, and thanking the organizers of the meeting.
