The cabinet on Monday rejected any potential offence or calling into question Kuwait's "fair and impartial judiciary" or its members.
During the weekly meeting at Bayan Palace, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the cabinet appreciated members of the judiciary and their hard efforts to reinforce justice, equality and the rule of law, said Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
The meeting had reviewed condemnation by Acting chief of the Supreme Judiciary Council and Acting Head of the Court of Cassation, Constitutional Court Chief Yousef Jassim Al-Mutawa for offences through social media targeting reputation and impartiality of judiciary members, and judicial stability, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah added.
Lofty judiciary and its devoted members have always been a source of pride, the cabinet stressed.
At the onset of the meeting, the ministers welcomed the recent appointment of new Minister of Public Works and Minister of Electricity and Water Ahmad Al-Jassar, wishing him best of luck in his new post.
The minister replied by thanking His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the cabinet for trusting him and vowing to do his best to achieve the interest of the nation and citizens.
The cabinet then reviewed a recent letter sent to His Highness the Amir by former US President Bill Clinton, inviting him to attend the first meeting of his world initiative for Middle East and North Africa due in Morocco's Marrakech City.
The ministers also discussed a recent letter to His Highness the Prime Minister from his Armenian counterpart Hovik Abrahamyan, thanking him for warm welcome and hospitality during his recent visit to Kuwait and inviting His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak to visit Armenia.
Afterwards, the cabinet was apprised of a letter received by His Highness the Prime Minister from former Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Seniora, appreciating Kuwait's relentless support for Lebanon and urging closer cooperative ties in various fields.
Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah then presented a briefing on the outcomes of a recent meeting of GCC interior ministers in Riyadh, especially regarding the current situation in Yemen and relevant threats to regional security and stability.
Then, the cabinet reviewed and approved a draft decree on offering amnesties and reducing freedom-restricting penalties for inmates, on the occasion of Kuwait's 54th National Day. It referred it to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for final approval.
The meeting also approved a draft decree for giving more control power to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in addition to other draft decrees on cooperation agreements with some world countries.
These include a higher education and scientific research agreement with Hungary and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kenya for establishing a joint higher committee.
There were also two decrees for tourist cooperation with Kenya and Tanzania, and an education cooperation agreement with the UAE besides a health one with the UK.
They were all referred to His Highness the Amir.
The cabinet further approved a draft decree for shifting Ghalib Mohammad Jassim Al-Osaimi Al-Otaibi from the Ministry of Higher Education to the post of Assistant Director General of the Kuwait Arts Academy, with the title of a ministry Assistant Undersecretary.
Two others were approved for appointing Yusuf Ali Mubarak Al-Najjar in the Ministry of Education, with the title of an Assistant Undersecretary, and Jamal Al-Jlawi a Director General of the Public Authority for Industry, also as an Undersecretary.
Then the ministers discussed issues on the agenda of the National Assembly, and reports on the current Arab and international political developments.
