First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah had an extensive meeting with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer on legal and humanitarian matters of the Palestinians who are undergoing daily Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.
Sheikh Sabah, who is heading an Arab delegation to Geneva, told KUNA Thursday that the meeting highlighted ICRC's responsibilities to protect civilians under wartime; hence, it should exert all efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians by appealing to all international treaties, especially those of Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, commonly referred to as the Fourth Geneva Convention.
The Kuwaiti minister stressed the importance of holding an international conference to discuss the Palestinian situation in light of the Fourth Geneva Convention.
The delegation accompanying Sheikh Sabah includes Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Al-Araby, Morocco Minister of Foreigner Affairs, representative of presidency of the League's Foreign Ministers' Council Salah Al-Din Mezwar and Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki.
