The National Assembly's Human Rights Committee on Monday thrashed out a fresh draft law authorizing a national human rights body.
Emerging from a parliamentary session held especially for the purpose, the Rapporteur of the Committee, Abdul Hameed Dashti, told reporters that the committee had listened to relevant remarks from the Representative of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for the Middle East Abdulsalam Ahmad.
The suggested national human rights agency reflects Kuwait's commitment to international recommendations in this regard, Dashti added.
The parliamentary committee will invite a group of human rights experts and specialists to attend its next meeting for further deliberations ahead of the adoption of the draft law, he pointed out.
