
The parliament's interior and defense committee discussed Thursday amendments to the firearms collecting law.
Head of the committee MP Adbullah Al-Ma'youf told the press that the committee's meeting touched on amendments proposed by the Ministry of Interior in the last session of parliament.
One amendment focused on increasing the penalty concerning illegal firearms possession to five years in prison and a fine of around KD 5,000 or either ruling, said the MP, noting that dealing and trading in illegal weapons and firarms will lead to penalties of seven years imprisonment and a fine of KD 50,000 or either one.
He added that warrants will be issued by the Minister of Interior or public prosecution with no inspection carried out without these warrants.
