
Chairman of the Committee on Legislative and Legal Affairs in the Kuwaiti National Assembly MP Mubarak Al-Hurais said here Monday that the first meeting of the parliamentary committee specialized in the legislative field has discussed the unification of Gulf legislation as much as possible.
This came during his chairmanship of the Kuwaiti delegation taking part in the first meeting of the parliamentary committee specialized in the legislative field of the regular meeting of the heads of the shura councils and national assemblies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which began yesterday.
Al-Hurais told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the parliamentary committee specialized in the legislative field is composed of heads of shura councils and parliamentary assemblies in the GCC countries in order to unite the legislation in the Gulf states.
He stressed the need to unify legislation in the areas of residency, trade and economy, adding that such convergence would pave the way for the activation and integration among the GCC states in these fields.
He said that the meeting of the parliamentary committee specialized in the legislative field focused on amendments presented by committee members which were consensual and unanimously approved.
Al-Hurais pointed out that these proposals were in favor of clarifying the terminology and nomenclature, in addition to matters relating to Committee's work and the possibility of hiring experts for the sake of boosting the GCC legislative action.
He stated that the evening session on Monday will continue discussion amendment of nine articles to be decided by the conferees.
