Military aircraft of the 10-nation coalition intensified strikes on military positions in Yemen over the past hours, military sources confirmed.
The sources said the warplanes hit and demolished, at dawn today, a missile launcher, a radar station in Maareb in eastern Yemen. They also struck an air defense camp, located north of the oil field, Safer, in Maareb. The launcher and the radar were directly hit and destroyed in the strikes.
Elsewhere, the allied air attacks targeted the presidential complex in central Sanaa, 48 military camps south of the city, Houthi strongholds in Saada, Hodaida, Aden and other regions. A large number of arms depots and military equipment for the Houthi militia and forces loyal to the former president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, were destroyed.
Saudi Arabia is leading a wide-scale military campaign against the Houthi militia in Yemen. "Operation Decisive Storm" involves Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain, along with some Arab countries.
Riyadh said it was compelled to resort to the military option after the Houthis foiled recurring diplomatic bids to settle the Yemeni crisis.
