Lebanon has been informed by the Syrian authorities about the arrest of Khaled Slim, who is accused of assassinating Majid Hashem, NNA's presidential palace correspondent said on Thursday.
61-year-old Al-Hashem, a cab driver, had gone missing Sunday in Jbeil district. His relatives said he left his home at 5:00 a.m. for work. After two days of search operations, his body was found buried in sand at a stone factory in the Jbeil town of Akoura.
"The arrestee will be handed to the Lebanese authorities within the coming few hours to be tried in Lebanon," NNA reporter added.
Contacts have been being held since the early morning hours on Thursday under the guidance of Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, leading to the arrest of Slim, who fled to Syria after committing his crime.
