The Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning has participated in organizing an awareness lecture for its staff on the new traffic law.
The lecture was prepared by the General Directorate of Traffic (GDT) under the title ‘Introduction to the New Traffic Law- Rethink’. Adel Mohsin from the Traffic Culture Directorate, Master Corporal Abdullah Al Mahmeed and Senior Police Officer Hisham Baljeek from the Ministry of Interior’s Traffic General Directorate delivered the lecture.
The lecture supports societal partnership with governmental institutions and reiterates the Ministry’s interest in the new traffic law.
The ministry's Public Relations & Media Director Fahad Buallay commended the traffic campaign that the Traffic General Directorate is promoting for the purpose of introducing people to the new traffic law; stressing the importance of combining efforts and collaborating with the Traffic General Directorate to ensure safety of all road users.
Adel Mohsin explained the application of the point system, the fines mechanism according to the new law, causes of accidents, speed violations and running the new light. He also referred to the reasons behind drafting the new traffic law.
The lecture, held at MoW’s premises, highlighted the objectives of the traffic law and how that will drive people to abide to law and avoid wrong behaviors on the road. Plans and programs of the Traffic General Directorate were also discussed.
