Head of Libya Democratic Assembly Party Ali Zuweik voiced hope over reaching an agreement among Libyan rivals in the coming days in a bid to end the long-standing conflict in the country.
In statements to MENA, Zuweik urged all parties to the conflict to present concessions to restore stability and security to the country, noting that the economic situation is very serious after the price of an oil barrel went down and the decrease of oil production from 1.5 million barrels to 300,000 barrels only.
He pressed the need for forming a national unity government as soon as possible in order to unite hands against any pending threats and halt bloodshed in the country.
Libyan political dialogue commenced at the United Nations Office at Geneva on Thursday.
Libya is divided between an Islamist-backed government in Tripoli and the internationally recognized government in Tobruk.
UN Libya envoy Bernardino Leon wants a deal by Sept. 20. He said Friday in Geneva "we really have a chance to reach a final agreement in the coming days" but cautioned that "the last mile is the most difficult one."
