Algeria plays a "key role” in preserving the unity of Libya, its sovereignty and territory, said Tuesday in Nairobi (Kenya) Libyan Foreign Minister, Mohammed Abdulaziz.
"We hail the Algerian people, its government and its president for the interest shown in Libya as part of the fraternal, historical and strategic relations linking the two countries," Libyan FM told reporters on the sidelines of the Summit the Council for Peace and Security of the African Union (AU) on strengthening the fight against terrorism.
Besides, he expressed the hope to see the recommendations made at the summit of the Peace and Security of the AU "concretely implemented on the ground in Libya, which is currently in a particular stage characterized by terrorism acts perpetrated by armed groups against the Libyan people."
"We expect a strong signal from the participants to support the Libyan legitimacy represented by the parliament and the interim government," he said.
