Fourteen suspects involved in the murder of policeman Yasser Khan in Sitra have been sentenced to lifetime imprisonment by the First Supreme Criminal Court.
The culprits were accused of premeditated murder of policeman Yasser Khan after planning to use all forms of violence with the public security officers. Therefore, they prepared iron rods, inflammatory devices and explosives and took to the street in groups using barriers to drag the security officers to the site where a homemade roadside bomb was planted.
As soon as the victim had reached the location, the explosive device was blown up to deliberately kill any of the security officers.
The culprits appeared before the First Supreme Criminal Court for trial on 24/11/2013. Six of them continued to be detained while the rest were tracked down and arrested. Investigations showed that they, alongside other ones, committed the terror act which happened on 6/7 2013 near Wadiyan cemetery in Sitra. Two other policemen were injured in the incident.
The verdict, which can be appealed, was proclaimed after the case was processed by the court in the presence of the defendants’ lawyers.
