Luxor security directorate decided on Sunday to extend the state of alert in the governorate till the end of the January 25 revolution anniversary celebrations.
All tight security measures that were taken around all tourist facilities and archaeological sites during the visit of Egyptian Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping's visit to Luxor on Thursday will continue till the end of the revolution celebrations, security chief Essam Halmli said.
Detection dogs and handheld explosives trace detectors will be used to examine all cars entering or leaving the governorate, he added.
"We are ready to face any act of violence or riots threatening the security and stability of the state," he said.
