
Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab headed the first meeting of an "Africa Unit" that has recently been formed by the Cabinet.
The meeting was attended by the ministers of health and population, electricity, transport, agriculture, international cooperation, investment, aviation, culture, higher education, irrigation and water resources, as well as a number of officials representing bodies concerned.
Cabinet spokesman Hossam el Qawish said that Mahlab underlined, during the get-together, the importance of establishing the "Africa Unit" as part of Egyptian efforts to promote relations with African countries via an increase in visit exchange.
He further said that the "Africa Unit" is of political and economic importance to Egypt.
