
More than one million Yemenis have been internally displaced from March 26 till the end of May, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Friday, putting the total number of IDPs at more than 20 millions since the beginning of the conflict.
The OCHA said the internally displaced people (IDPs) in Yemen were in dire need to humanitarian assistance.
Half a million of the newly IDPs came from the cities of Hajjah, Ad Dali', and Ibb, OCHA added.
The UN humanitarian office estimated the number of IDPs to increase in the coming weeks due to the running conflicts, adding that around 2,200 people, half of them civilians, were killed, and near 10 thousands others injured according estimates in the end of May.
