Moroccan King Mohammad VI has welcomed the election of Beji Caid Essebsi as the new president of Tunisia, saying his election would bolster the "democratic path" in the nation.
The Moroccan Monarch, in an official statement, said he was sharing Tunisians "joyful sentiments and success" after the election of the new president.
Election of Essebsi "manifests the Tunisian people's will to press ahead on the path of bolstering democracy and completing institutional reforms toward a prosperous future," he said.
Moreover, he affirmed his robust keenness on bolstering ties with Tunisia, under the new leadership, indicating anew his desire to establish a strong and integrated "Maghreb union," comprising the Arab countries in North Africa.
