A coalition of parties that support ousted President Mohamed Morsi has called for mass rallies on Friday. In a Wednesday statement, the National Alliance for the Defense of Legitimacy said that the rallies will start with prayers for martyrs in mosques nationwide. "We will remain steadfast until the bloody military coup is defeated," the pro-Morsi coalition said. Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically elected president, was removed from power by the army after mass demonstrations against him. Ever since his July 3 removal, Morsi supporters have been staging daily rallies to protest the military coup against the elected president and demand his reinstatement.
