Morsi trial in Wadi el-Natrun adjourned to Saturday

Cairo Criminal Court on Wednesday decided to adjourn to Saturday session the trial of ousted president Mohammad Morsi in the prison break case known as "Wadi El Natrun".
As many as 131 defendants are charged with kidnapping four police officers and holding them in the Gaza strip, using heavy armaments against the Egyptian government, breaking into prisons, breaking prisoners out, murder and attempted murder of police officers, among other charges, such as committing violent acts affecting the unity and independence of Egypt and setting fire to government buildings.
Counselor Shaaban El Shamy said bad weather conditions forced cancelling the transportation of Morsi by a helicopter to the court.
Some 27 defendants are jailed over their involvement in the case, while other defendants are being tried in abstentia.
Morsi had been detained in Wadi El Natrun Prison and was one of those who had been freed after the 28 January 2011 prison break.
