Most wanted criminal arrested, another killed in Sharqia crackdown

A dangerous wanted criminal was arrested and another was arrested during a wide-scale security campaign in Sharqia governorate.

A criminal hotbed was monitored in Abu Kabir town, where a security crackdown was launched in conjunction with the central security forces and the public security sector.

The 39-year-old criminal, who was previously accused in six various cases and wanted in two others, and others heavily opened fire on the forces.

A citizen, who was passing by, was injured by the criminals' fire and then died of his wounds after being transferred to hospital.

The troops were forced to exchange fire with the criminals, who used women and children as human shields, so the armed clashes lasted for nearly four hours to ensure their safety.

The forces managed to enter the hotbed, where the dangerous wanted criminal was arrested and found injured.

Another criminal was killed during the clashes.

Three automatic rifles, a pistol, magazines and various amounts of drugs were found in the hotbed.

All necessary legal procedures were taken.
