Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam said fighting corruption is a national and religious duty.
Allam added that Egypt seeks to uproot corruption which was the main reason for the collapse of nations.
The national center for fighting corruption has honored Allam on Thursday for the efforts made by Dar Al-Ifta to counter intellectual corruption and raising citizens awareness of the serious financial and administrative corruption.
Allam said that Dar Al-Ifta is working to combat extremism and radicalism that are far away from real Islam through a moderate approach.
Dar Al-Ifta issued several fatwas (religious edicts) against all kinds of corruption, bribes, monopoly and embezzlement, Mufti added.
He also said that Dar Al-Ifta is ready to render all forms of support to the center in this regard.
