Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh yesterday highlighted the Saudi government’s efforts in the service of pilgrims who come to the Kingdom for Haj and Umrah. Addressing a major seminar entitled “Haj is a worship and a civilized behavior” organized by the Haj Ministry, he stressed the role of Haj in refining Muslims. “When we reflect about worships in Islam, we can find that they have been the main reason that provides Muslims with mental peace and tranquility,” the mufti said. Al-Asheikh also emphasized the important role of the Haj pilgrimage in strengthening the unity and solidarity of Muslims, despite the differences in their races, colors and languages. “This great conference of Muslims is based on monotheism and brings the hearts of Muslims closer,” the mufti said, and called on pilgrims to cooperate and help one another. He spoke of the Saudi government’s efforts to create a suitable atmosphere for pilgrims to perform their Haj rituals by mobilizing human and material resources. Al-Asheikh urged Muslims to abide by the teachings of Islam in all walks of their lives and set a good example for other communities. Haj Minister Bandar Hajjar said the Saudi government and people consider serving pilgrims a great honor. “Ever since King Abdul Aziz, Saudi leaders have been doing everything possible for the successful organization of Haj,” he said. Hajjar urged pilgrims to cooperate with the Kingdom’s Haj managers and officials who work for their welfare and comfort. From Arabnews
