
The total Muslim population in 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) rose by 1.76 percent in 2013 recording 1,672,452,000 Muslims, read a report by International Islamic News Agency (IINA).
According to the statistical report made by IINA's research centre, Muslims represent 23.75 percent of the world population that recorded 7,101,037,944 people.
Indonesia came first on the list of the 57 countries by 252,812,000 followed by Pakistan by 185,133,000 Muslims, the report noted.
Egypt came number three on the list by 83,387,000 Muslims, the report said.
Under the study, the average Muslim population growth rate in 2013 recorded 2.2 percent per year. The fastest-growing Muslim population was recorded in Oman.
