The Muslim Wise Men Council has condemned the deadly siege imposed on Syria's Madaya town, calling it a heinous crime that violates heavenly teachings and international norms and conventions.
The council, in a statement on Saturday, called for an immediate action to save children, women and the elderly, who are fighting death due to the shortage of food, water and medicine.
They are living in difficult humanitarian conditions, with humanitarian aid not allowed into the town for quite some time now. Many have been killed and displaced as a result.
The council urged world conscience, relief and human rights groups, the UN and the Arab and Muslim worlds to live up to their responsibilities in saving the besieged Syrians from dying of hunger and thirst.
