The Palestinian National and Islamic Forces in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday called on the Egyptian government to resume its efforts in sponsoring Palestinian reconciliation.
In a statement, the coalition called on Cairo to host a meeting by the committee assigned to revive and develop the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
The forces said the committee's meeting should be part of efforts to implement Cairo Agreement signed in April 2011.
The statement reiterated importance of unity among various Palestinian factions to revive the PLO's role under the 2005 Cairo agreement.
It underscored Egypt's vital role in supporting the Palestinian cause, urging an end to the split.
Also, the statement condemned aggression carried out by Israeli occupation forces against al-Quds and the continued siege imposed on the Gaza enclave.
