The National Council for the Disabled Affairs represented Egypt at the African Union (AU) Commission social affairs' meetings, recently held in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
A statement by the NCDA on Monday said the meetings targeted an outline of a framework plan for the disabled people in the AU member states till the year 2063.
The work progress in the relevant AU plan, as part of the African decade for the disabled 2009-2018, was also high on the agenda of the meetings, according to the statement.
NCDA representative to the meetings, Khaled Hanafi, said Egypt presided over the first session of the meetings that included a review of an African protocol on the rights of the disabled.
Egypt's experience in the field in the past few years was also reviewed during the AU meetings, the NCDA statement quoted Hanafi as having added.
