Neighbors call for immediate ceasefire, national dialogue in Libya

Libya neighbors have called for an instantaneous halt of armed operations and curbing the flow of arms into the country.
The fifth ministerial conference of Libya neighboring countries held in Khartoum on Thursday expressed in a statement respect to the choice of the Libyan people and support to the legitimate institutions in the war-torn country. It also called for re-building and qualifying the armed forces, expressing deep concern over the escalation of armed operations The ministerial meeting reaffirmed full solidarity with the Libyan people urging all political factions and groups to denounce violence and immediately set for a national dialogue.
The meeting agreed that the effective parties in the neighbors' initiative have to work on curbing the flow of arms into Libya, to avert more security deterioration, Sudan's Foreign Minister Ali Karti told a press conference with Libyan counterpart Mohammed Al-Dairi after the ministerial talks.
Karti added that the parties that do not opt for dialogue as a strategic choice, will not get involved. The participant foreign ministers urged the Libyan factions to hold the national dialogue above all interests.
It was agreed that the ministers will pay a visit to Libya soon to have a close view of developments there, in coordination with the Libyan side.
By the end of the meeting, the ministers agreed to consider the Libya neighbors mechanism in a continuous session to carry on with the consultations on developments and to maintain contacts with the relevant Libyan parties.
The sixth ministerial meeting will be held in Chad's N'djamena, but no date was set.
Foreign Ministers from Egypt, Niger, Chad, Algeria and Tunisia attended the Khartoum's conference, together with their Libyan and Sudanese counterparts as well as Arab League and African Union envoys, Nasser Al-Qudwa and Dalita Mohammad Dalita.
