Director of Luxor Civil Protection Unit Mohamad Omar on Saturday denied reports on finding a bomb near the starting point of the Orman charity marathon.
Security bodies reported that a dubious object was found, so police cordoned off the scene, and bomb disposal experts combed the area, Omar said.
The dubious object was found to be free of explosives, he added.
The charity marathon was continued as normal in the presence of President of the Egyptian Football Association Gamal Allam, Ahmed Shouber, Ahmed Hassan Khaled Bebo, Shawki Gharib and actress Nihal Anbar.
