The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) urged all political currents in Iraq to exercise self-restraint, renounce violence and work on solving disputes through peaceful means.
The OIC urged the political factions in Iraq to support the legitimate leadership in its efforts to preserve Iraq's unity and stability.
In a statement on Sunday, OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani voiced deep regret over the current situation in Iraq.
He also urged political parties to put national interest above all other considerations.
Madani, meanwhile, affirmed that the OIC stands fully ready to contribute to efforts aiming to attain comprehensive national reconciliation as part of holding Macca 2 conference that aims to overcome differences among the Iraqi sects.
