
The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly has condemned the aerial raid by the Syrian regime in Deir al-Asafir village South-East of Damascus, which led to the murder and injuries of dozens of people, majority of which were women and children.
In a statement, the Secretary- General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Iyad Ameen Madani, denounced the continuation of killings and devastation perpetrated by the Syrian regime and in violation to the ceasefire and related UN resolutions, hampering the United Nations efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis on the basis of the statement of the Geneva 1 and UN Security Council Resolutions No. 2258 and 2264.
The statement highlighted the OIC invitation to the international community and the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities in ending these crimes and protect the Syrian people, and the need to respect the cessation of hostilities agreement and focus on a peaceful solution as the only way to end the conflict in Syria.
