
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Saturday welcomed a decision of Indonesia for holding an Extraordinary Islamic Summit on recent developments in Palestine and the occupied Quds.
In a statement, OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani commended Indonesia's role in supporting the Palestinian cause.
The statement added that the Secretary General made intensive talks with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al Maliki and Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi in this regard.
The summit, that will be hold upon a request of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, aims to study and Islamic action to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and work to provide international protection for them, along with developing mechanisms to end the Israeli occupation and establish a Palestinian independent state on the 1967 borders with Al Quds as its capital.
