Police in Oman made a huge seizure of narcotics in the northern Batinah region. According to a press release issued by the police on Thursday, an Asian national was arrested from the port town of Sohar, about 235 km north of Muscat, with 1.94 kg of heroin, besides 1,840 methamphetamine and Tramadol tablets. “We were tipped off about the drug operation by an agency in a GCC country,” the statement said. Police also arrested five Asian nationals from a hotel in Ruwi on charges of prostitution and violation of the country’s residency laws. Officials said that the raid on the hotel was a follow-up operation to a raid carried out last week at a house in Seeb area, when police arrested four Asian nationals for indulging in prostitution
