
At least 76 people, including 12 children and ten women were killed in air and ground operations across Syria mounted by President Bashar al-Assad's regime on Saturday, opposition activists have claimed. The London-based Syrian Network for Human Rights watchdog said that 28 people were killed in the suburbs of Damascus, 14 in Aleppo, 12 each in Homs and Hama, three each in Daraa and Latakia and two each in Idlib and Deir’z Zor.An additional report from the Local Coordination Committees of Syria (LCC) claims that the army staged heavily armed attacks and also dropped barrel bombs on the opposition-controlled areas of Aleppo.The Syrian government's official SANA news agency claimed that state forces had 'neutralized' a large number of opponents nationwide.The claims follow clashes between government forces and rebels at a regime-controlled border crossing into Turkey on Friday.Free Syrian Army fighters mounted an early-morning attack to seize the town of Keseb and its Turkish border gate, opposition sources told an Anadolu Agency correspondent.The sound of fighting was heard in the Turkish border town of Yayladagi and villages along the border.Three regime-controlled border posts were reportedly captured by the opposition.Turkey has put its security forces on alert and warned its citizens living near the border.More than 100,000 people have been killed during the three-year conflict in Syria, which has also internally displaced more than 6.5 million people, according to the U.N. Over two million Syrians are now registered as refugees in neighboring Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq.
