Over 325000 Syrian refugees in Lebanon

Over 325,000 Syrian refugees are currently in Lebanon, receiving aid through the Lebanese government, the UN Higher Refugees Council (UNHRC) said in its latest report on Tuesday. About 203,000 Syrian refugees have registered with the UNHRC, while more than 122,000 are still waiting to complete their registration process, according to the report. It said that 94,933 refugees are registered in north Lebanon, 77,631 in the Bekaa region, and 31,271 in Beirut and south Lebanon. The UNHRC pointed out that most of those who have been registered in February came from the devastated city of Homs, Idlib, Damascus and Aleppo. It stressed that its priority is to cut short the waiting period for the registration of the refugees, adding that it succeeded in registering 2,000 refugees in February more than it did in January. Meanwhile, The UN agency disclosed that it launched the work in its new Zahle office and will open a new office in the southern city of Tyre.
