Palestinian Ambassador in Cairo Gamal el Shobaky thanked on Thursday the Egyptian leadership and authorities for their efforts to remove obstacles facing Palestinian pilgrims.
The ambassador had bid farewell to the last batch of Palestinian pilgrims, who left here in the wee hour of Thursday en route to Saudi Arabia to perform pilgrimage.
Egypt's security men played a significant role to secure the transfer of Palestinian pilgrims to Egypt via Rafah border crossing despite the difficult security situation in Sinai, he said.
Coordination has been made between the Egyptian and Palestinian authorities to facilitate travel procedures for 2,329 Palestinian pilgrims, he noted.
The third and last batch of Palestinian pilgrims flew to Saudi Arabia early in the day to perform pilgrimage.
