Palestinian Presidency Secretary-General Al Tayyeb Abdel Rahim welcomed Egypt's taking over UN Security Council non-permanent membership seat.
Interviewed by MENA, Abdel Rahim described Egypt's winning of the two-year seat as a victory for Arab causes, in general, and the Palestinian cause, in particular.
Also, choosing Egypt as the head of the UNSC terrorism-combat committee would have a great positive impact on anti-terror efforts in the region.
Abdel Rahim described Palestinian-Egyptian relations as strategic, distinguished and deeply-rooted.
Coordination is underway to start talks between Egypt, the Arab quartet committee and the Palestinian leadership on a framework for dealing with the Palestinian cause in international forums, he said.
As for the impact of the situation in Gaza on Egypt, the Palestinian official asserted that the Palestinian Authority and leadership supported Egyptian national security against any threats.
